Irvine Lake water level falls to 59 percent capacity
Irvine Lake east of Orange dropped to 14 755 acre feet or 59 percent of capacity after a dry winter and spring. Serrano Water District says the 25 000 acre foot full lake capacity reflects the region’s unusually low 2012 13 rainy season with just over 15 inches of rain versus a normal 38 inches.

Villa Park mayor praises safe fireworks sale
Villa Park ended a 27 year ban on fireworks with a one year trial and no incidents. Mayor Brad Reese called the event a success and urged sales to return next year amid strong community support. The City Council will decide on 2014 permits later this year.
