Orange Police HEART program aids homeless with long term solutions

Cpl. Mike Robbins and four officers run HEART the Orange Police Departments homeless engagement and resource team. The unit handles homeless related calls to build trust and connect families to jobs housing and schools. Partners include Westminster Costa Mesa Anaheim Fullerton Irvine and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Mayor forgives nuisance fines for Villa Park car collector

Mayor of Villa Park settled a public nuisance dispute with car collector Charles Bivens by forgiving up to 226,800 in fines after the city verified operability of six cars on the driveway. A city inspector noted operability issues following January decorations and a subsequent two week deadline.

Villa Park approves 2014-15 budget with signs and charging stations

Villa Park earmarks three capital projects in the 2014-15 budget. New monument signs at city entrances cost 147,476 with 81,800 from the Women's League and Community Services Foundation. Two electric-car charging stations receive 15,500 and security infrastructure 50,000, pending grant funding. Expenditures rise to about 4 million on a 63,700 increase, aided by reserves and a sheriff contract.
