Peralta Sale Fails by a Vote in Orange Unified Board
The Orange Unified School District board rejected selling the former Peralta Junior High site after a 4-3 vote in favor, lacking the two-thirds required. The 20-acre parcel at North Canal Street and East Meats Avenue currently houses Super Sports Golf & Recreation Center with a lease of 200000 annually. The district previously explored a 99-year lease with Fairfield Residential for up to 340 apartments that would bring up to 900000 annually, but residents opposed due to traffic crime and property value concerns.
