Appellate court to rule on Ridgeline site development plan

In Orange County a state appeals court will decide whether the former Ridgeline Country Club can proceed with plans for equestrian homes on 51 acres in Orange Park Acres. Residents hope the land becomes open space, while a developer pushes for dozens of large homes amid years of inactivity and partial local consensus.

Neighbors oppose proposed 350‑unit complex at Peralta site

Orange residents at a Peralta neighborhood meeting grilled Fairfield Residential executives over a 350 unit apartment project planned for the former Peralta Junior High site on Canal Street and Meats Avenue. The 20 acre parcel, land owned by Orange Unified and leased to Peralta Golf Partners, would require a zoning change and is under review by the Orange City Council.

Villa Park considers returning fireworks this July 4

Villa Park may resume selling Safe and Sane fireworks after a 1987 ban. The City Council reviews a one year ordinance allowing sales with vendor permits, sale and discharge dates, stand locations, 24 hour security and fees to cover costs. Nearby cities have legalized sales to support youth groups and churches. A vote could occur next month.
