Organizers of the Orange International Street Fair add 50 additional feet of elbow room as the event returns for its 42nd year this weekend in Old Towne Orange. President Mike Winger says the tweak aims to help the crowd flow and improve attendee enjoyment ahead of SEE FAIR PAGE.
The Orange International Street Fair runs Friday 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Glassell Street and Chapman Avenue. Alcohol sales end at 9 p.m. each day. Admission is free with a $2 alcohol wristband. More information at orangestreetfair.org.
City runs about 500 parking spaces across seven lots during the street fair with free city spaces but nonprofits set a cap of 10 dollars. No permit enforcement, but time limits remain. Locations include Main Library, Orange Public Library Foundation City Hall A East, Orange Senior Center City Hall B West, Community Chorale Lemon Street A, Orange Emblem Lemon Street B, Plaza Rotary Grand Street, Household of Faith Family Church Almond Street, New Hope Presbyterian Church.
An Orange learning center that faced closure due to funding issues is thriving after Main Place Christian Fellowship began operating it. Pastor Rich Mathisrud says preparations for the new school year are underway and the center is performing far better than expected. The Highland Learning Center uses two apartments on East Quincy Avenue and began in April.
