In nearby towns during last week’s municipal elections Malvern saw a four way mayoral contest with Jon Kemp defeating the incumbent and other candidates including councilmen Norman Pierce Larry Hedlund Temple Bowers and parkward Dr James Ahern. Henderson had a lively write in mayoral contest where Willard Vanderlinden edged out the next candidate. Emerson elected Quentin Joligon mayor and relected several council members while changes to the town’s council election system were approved. Hastings reported no nominees with strong write in campaigns producing Jim Burrington as mayor and a mix of council seats. Pacific Junction named Hobe Rupe mayor with several incumbents also taking seats.
