Court fines and costs listed for numerous speeding and traffic violatio

A magistrate's docket shows fines and at least 8.50 in court costs for numerous individuals across multiple towns including Glenwood Omaha Council Bluffs and Bellevue for speeding failure to stop red light disobeying stop sign improper start disturbing peace and related offenses. Amounts range from 13.50 to 108.50 with several at 28.50 36.50 and 23.50. County Board signs MAPA plan for land use study

Mills County Board of Supervisors signed a contract with Metropolitan Area Planning Agency for a Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The project costs 14,706,310 dollars, with 310,000 dollars funded by the county general fund and the rest covered by a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Regional Health Clinic to aid youth in Creston event

Glenwood Patrolman Involved in Mishap

A Glenwood part time police officer Kenneth Heitman 32 was involved in a collision on North Locust Street June 23 with a 1971 Oldsmobile driven by Jeretta Stivers 35. Mrs Stivers and her son Rodney Lee 15 were treated and released. Heitman was southbound and Stivers northbound with a left turn onto Fifth Street. The Stivers car rolled into a yard. No citations issued, investigation continues. No damage estimate available.

Social Security Visits Listed at Mills County Courthouse

A Social Security representative will be at the Mills County Courthouse in Glenwood from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on July 5 and 18, August 1 and 15, and September 6 and 19. The Glenwood visits on July 5 and September 19 follow holidays. The Council Bluffs Social Security office has a new number 402-221-3771. Fiery Crash Claims Silver City Driver

A Silver City man, 20, died Sunday night in a fiery truck crash on County Road L-55, south of Treynor. His pickup struck a bridge railing, rolled into a creek, and burst into flames. Treynor fire crews and Meyer Funeral Home assisted.

A foot race for charity, illness from handling corpses, a 12 year robbery acquittal, a 1928 air field discussion, and local notices about a pool ready for use and chicken prices reflect a bustling town page.

Sheriff Reports Abandoned Cars and Local Burglary Incidents

Mills County sheriff reports include two abandoned cars found June 22 near Camp Nayall and west of Pacific Junction. A 1970 Chevrolet stolen June 18 or 19 from Council Bluffs was burned with tires, wheels, and motor removed. license plates missing. The other abandoned car near Pacific Junction belonged to Danny Brown, who left it after mechanical trouble. it was vandalized and plates removed. Also reported were home burglaries near Silver City and north of Glenwood with furniture and tool items stolen, and a Bartlett area break in where Ed Jackson’s home was pried open and ransacked but nothing taken.
