Learn-to-Earn Center Aims to Teach Disabled in Glenwood
Al Hewitt and Marc Craig open Learn-to-Earn Training Center at 202 East Sharp Street Glenwood offering work skills to mentally and physically handicapped, elderly residents. Initial 25 trainees from Lakeview Manor, follow-up support for employers, and a halfway house plan accompany on-site instruction in candle making woodwork printing and ceramics with mentors from Lakeview Manor and neighboring communities. The project funded by Lakeview Manor seeks profit to sustain without tax dollars and emphasizes community integration and long term employment with post placement counseling.
