Three Injured In Two Car Crash At Highways 34 And A

Three people were treated after a June 11 two car collision at the Highways 34 and A junction. David Williams 31 of Glenwood sustained head lacerations while Judith Hansen 31 of Macedonia suffered knee and leg injuries and Robert Devers 36 of Glenwood received a shoulder laceration. Ford damage estimated at 1500 dollars and Hansen’s 500 dollars. Also reported: June 8 break in at Ord's Grocery Silver City. two 16 year olds questioned. seven cartons of cigarettes taken. intruders interrupted by a man. June 13 break in at P. J. Cafe Pacific Junction. eggs meat gum and candy stolen. front door pried open. June 8 tools stolen from Ed Sell pickup in Malvern. tools valued at 300 dollars.

Water Audit Shows Collection Hike in Glenwood Water Works

State Auditor Lloyd Smith released a 12 month audit ending June 30 1976 for Glenwood Municipal Water Works finding no irregularities. Revenue from regular taxes and transfers totaled 427 266 62 with expenditures of 425 970 91. Bonded debt remained at 835 000 after a 20 000 redemption. Water pumped totaled 398 523 000 gallons. Delinquent collections stood at 3 032 60 as of December 30 1976. Revenue collected in 1975 76 rose from 149 574 96 in 1971 72 to 234 523 12 in 1975 76.

Bond posted for UMVUI suspect in Pacific Junction arrest

Thomas Duane Scoggings, 27, was arrested on Sharp Street by Glenwood Police on June 14 for UMVUI. He was released on 5500 bail.

Traffic fines and jail for suspension case in Pacific Junction

Magistrate amounts include fines and at least 850 court costs. A long list of speeding disobeying stop sign failure to have control and other offenses with penalties from 18.50 to 70.50 dollars. Loren Allyn Mayer Pacific Junction was sentenced to five days in jail for failure to appear on traffic citations and held on 250 dollar bond on driving while suspended for no license.

Harold Deitchler Sees Record Martin Nesting in Glenwood

Harold Deitchler, long-time martin fancier near Glenwood, reports 102 baby martins and 59 eggs in two houses as of Monday morning. He says each pair averages five babies, up from three or four, predicting a strong year for martins. Deitchler notes a decade of success with the birds and has trapped over 300 sparrows nearby.

Glenwood School Board Plans Renovations for Year

The Glenwood School District outlined phased renovations including window replacement at the junior high to cut heating costs, asphalt playground work, and summer cosmetic fixes. Buses will be waxed, and a summer maintenance program continues as contracts and personnel changes are approved.

Four P J Homes Rehabilitated In Pacific Junction

Pacific Junction mayor Virgil Faulkner reports the last of four homes renovated under a Community Development Block Grant. The two month project added water and electrical service, siding and roof repairs to bring homes up to code. The council seeks $81 500 more to expand work and convert the old fire station into a community center, with a decision due in August.

Energy Council Offers Reward for Efficient Homes

The Iowa Energy Policy Council will award a $1,500 prize to the builder of the most energy efficient single family detached home in 1977. Three builders will each receive a $1,500 reward on August 15 from proposals due by July 29, 1977. Details available from the council at 707 East Locust, Des Moines.
