Glenwood Police report quiet Memorial weekend

An 18 year old Glenwood man injured May 24 when his AMF bicycle struck a 1976 Oldsmobile driven by Ruby Reed. Minor chest injuries were reported. A parked Wayne Lincoln car sustained $250 damage May 27 after a 1975 Ford driven by Robert Smith struck it. Linda Fritz reported May 24 car vandalism. Danny Smith said a tape player and four speakers were stolen May 28 along with tapes of unknown value.

Collision on Highway 34 Injures Passenger. Delavan Cited

A May 27 crash on Highway 34 saw a Ford truck driven by Sharon Geer 18 of Red Oak rear ended by Steven Delavan 18 of Glenwood. Delavan cited for failure to have control. passenger Lawrence Selser 18 Red Oak suffered minor head injuries. Damages to both pickups about 1000 each. Also May 27 Kaiser Rock Quarry reported break‑in. scale house lock pried, gasoline and small radio stolen.

Homestead Tax Credit Application Due July 1

Residents owning a dwelling must apply for the Homestead tax credit by July 1 each year. If already applied in 1977, a new filing is unnecessary unless moving to a different owned home. A military exemption is available to Iowa property owners on active duty in listed wars and residing in Iowa, with limits on parcels and counties.

Oklahoma Kicks Off Season at Anderson Schoolhouse Theatre

Oklahoma opens the second season at Anderson Schoolhouse Theatre in Iowa with Ferola announcing local support efforts. The venture uses five local performers plus professional guests, plans community nights, and features new seating, dining upgrades, and a menu up to 6.50 while aiming to draw Mills Fremont and Montgomery Counties residents away from Omaha for entertainment.

Anderson Schoolhouse opens Oklahoma season with local talent

The Anderson Schoolhouse Restaurant Theatre launches its second season with Oklahoma! June 2 featuring Gordon Woodrow as orchestra conductor Carol Goos as assistant conductor and performers Dawn Storm from Glenwood and a large cast of regional and national talent. Dawn Storm plays Kate. Resident Choreographer David Wilkinson directs. Group rates invite community attendance, including a Glenwood Night on June 16. Special rates apply for groups of 20 or more through the Anderson Schoolhouse, 374-3115.

Visitors flock to Mills County Museum on Memorial Day

A large crowd toured the Mills County Historical Museum complex on Memorial Day despite rain. Hosts and hostesses included Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Carlson and others, with Mrs. H. J. Widows among the organizers.
