A collage of vintage notes recounts quirky incidents from 1871 and 1926 including a man who penned up a neighbor's cow and a hoax involving ink and throne weeks. The clipping also lampoons public manners, hypnotism claims, and women canvassers styling tips, alongside a staged hold up and humorous editor jesting about newspapers and editors.
A concerned parent recalls a Friday night at the theater where groups of youths argued wrestled and caused disturbances outside. Cars squealed tires a hat was tossed onto an awning and police arrived as onlookers watched, raising worries about child safety and supervision.
Antiques valued over 500 were stolen from a vacant Silver City home. A Kenneth Etter Oldsmobile was burned on County Road L-31 near Pacific Junction. Feb 1 saw a shooting incident at Ryan Goines home and CB radios stolen from Pacific Junction residents. A missing travel trailer was recovered, and a Glenwood woman reported a missing diamond ring from a car at Glenwood Golf Course. February National Guard muster urged with open house and pancakes planned.

Malvern man received two years probation after a breaking and entering conviction in District Court. Sentences for others were suspended or continued for related charges. Keith Hammers faces ongoing sentencing for breaking and entering while three men from Glenwood and Malvern await arraignment on OMVAI charges. DeArthur Lewis was fined 300 dollars and given a 20 day suspended sentence for OMVAS and two years probation. Arraignments set for two Glenwood men on possession charges. Tom McBroom Jr. and William Gray were arrested December 22 by the Iowa Highway Patrol.
The County Board of Supervisors accepted bids Monday for two trucks. Sapp Bros. Ford in Omaha submitted both accepted bids. A 1976 half-ton pickup will be purchased for 4561 after trade-in. A 1976 Ford F700 truck will be purchased for 37796.46 with trade-in of a 1964 Ford cab and chassis. Food Stamp certification will be conducted between 1 and 4 pm February 9 10 and 11.
