Rural Iowa man held on rape attempt charge

A 39-year-old rural Tabor man, Eugene Waymen Gohlinghorst, is jailed in Mills County on $10,000 bond after a 19-year-old Papillion woman reported he attempted to rape her early November 29 near the Free Spirit Lounge on Interstate 29 and Highway 370. Deputies also report items found at his home linked to the case and statements he attacked two women on November 22 near a rest stop on I-29.

Multiple thefts and vandalism reported in Mills County

Reports to Mills County Sheriff's Office list several incidents from Nov 29 to Sunday. Incidents include break-ins on pickup campers at a water plant near Glenwood with six blankets stolen, garage tools missing, a rest area vandalized, water pipes broken, goose decoys stolen, a water softener and Christmas ornaments taken, a pried door, nine broken windows at West Elementary in Pacific Junction, and damage to the old Pacific Junction fire station plus a bank sign knocked down.
