Silver City Social News and Legion Auxiliary Meeting
The American Legion Auxiliary met Wednesday evening August 15 with 15 members. President Mrs Arnold Kiersch led the business session. Ona McNay spoke on rehabilitation. Hostesses were Mrs Clyde Schoening and Mrs Earl Bobbitt. September hostesses will be Mrs Harold Williams and Mrs Sheldon Williams. Sunday guests included Mr and Mrs Gerald Stogdill and family, and Mr and Mrs William Lay and family of Co Bluffs. Various family visits and local events filled the week, including a skating party by the B Y F C, and Evergreen Club activities with mid name roll call and guest twins. The next Evergreen Club meeting will be Sept 21 at Dorothy Stortenbecker’s.

The Silver City Town Council held a regular meeting August 6 1973 at 7 30 p m in Town Hall with Mayor Jones presiding. Present were Ord Marshall McNutt Techau Roenfeld. A Southwest Iowa Area Council on Aging presentation discussed repurposing an old school facility. Iowa National Metal Insurance Co presented a full insurance package with a final cost estimate to follow. Jim Jedlicka was sworn in as town maintenance man and town marshal. A special meeting was scheduled for August 13 1973 at 9 30 p m. Minutes from July 2 were approved and bills totaling 1 32 15 00 13 58 8 00 6 79 12 06 205 62 12 00 303 75 912 64 30 00 165 01 165 01 46 00 62 06 143 16 0 00 46 00 were approved. Discussion covered street and water issues. A notice from the county about Lot 18 Block 15 was referred to the city attorney. Resolution 73 9 under Home Rule Act Divisions I and VII Parts 1 and 2 was adopted. Jedlicka was cleared to attend waterworks operator training with 30 pre registration. The Glenwood Opinion-Tribune published the notice August 22 1973.
