Blarney the Persian Cat Returns Home to Hamilton
A black Persian cat named Blarney, who vanished on August 5, turned up in Georgetown after a month of wandering. Town residents reported sightings in the Queen Street area and near the monument before the cat was captured and guided back to Mrs. Harold Bell. He reappeared in a ravine on Main Street before being persuaded to return home, where he now rests and reflects on Georgetown’s labyrinth. Mrs. Bell thanks locals for keeping her updated.

Death of Pte Stanley Dickenson Overseas
The communities of Glen Williams and Georgetown mourn the death of Pte Stanley Dickenson who was killed in action in France on August 28. His mother Mrs James Dickenson received official notice in Ottawa. Surviving him are his parents and siblings. He enlisted in May last with the Argyle and Southern Highlanders and was nineteen. Born in Yorkshire, England, the family settled in Glen Williams. His father is on the Canadian Headquarters Staff in London England.

McClean Herrington Nuptials Held At United Church
On Friday September 8 at the United Church parsonage Rev Todd officiated the marriage of Audrey Herrington and Stanley McClean. The couple, from Georgetown and Brampton, married in a ceremony attended by parents Garnet Norton and others. A wedding supper followed and the couple took a short honeymoon before Stanley reports to his Nova Scotia Royal Navy station. Four generations appeared at the supper in two families.

Georgetown Public School Pupils Plan Fall Fair Exhibits
Pupils at Georgetown Public School are busily planning fair exhibits for the Fall Fair weekend plus an autumn War Savings Stamp drive, a milkweed collection, and continued paper and basket salvage. Principal H O Wrigglesworth reports 313 students with 41 beginners, up 15 from last year. 34 students in this year's entrance class. Mrs G Mc Lellan appointed music supervisor, a role she held at Milton P S last year.

Near Tragedy Revealed By Soldier In England

Different Program For Acton Fair on September 22 and 23
Acton Fair on Friday and Saturday September 22 and 23 adds features. Jimmie Fox returns with a First Night Concert in Town Hall followed by a dance. Saturday includes Lorne Sootse Band and Acton Boys Band in new uniforms, Ken Budd and Rodeo Six before the Grandstand, plus Potato Race Musial Chants Gentlemen's Road Race and High Jumping Horses. A tent covers part of the Hall exhibits and the prize list is improved. Horse and livestock shows are expected as usual with a second damel on Saturday and many new features for Acton 1044 residents.
