Pte Bill Tuck Home From Italy On 30 Day Leave
Pte Bill Tuck arrived home Friday morning after three and a half years overseas. He and his wife and daughter Joan, now twelve, live in Acton. He served with an anti air craft battery and took part in the Sicily invasion. He praised Canadian troops and noted Italy’s tough fighting before returning to Christie Street Hospital.

Ormie Carter Reported Missing in France
Ormie Carter son of Mr and Mrs Reuben Carter of Toronto is missing in action in France since September 10. Known as Bud he played hockey for Georgetown Juvenile and Milton Junior teams and lived in Norval where his father ran the Hollywood Hotel. He went to Georgetown High School and Oakwood Collegiate after moving to Toronto. Enlisted in the Lorne Scots then Queen’s Own Rifles, he served in Italy and France with the Special American Army Service Force. He is 20 years old on October 2.

Rev Thomas Todd Father of Rev R C Todd Dies in Beamsville
The Rev Thomas Richard Todd died at his Beamsville home on October 19 after a two week illness at age 66. A private service was held with a public service in the United Church. He lived in Beamsville recently after serving stations in Guelph Freeston Niagara Falls Harriston Mount Hamilton and Simcoe. He is survived by his widow a son Colin of Georgetown two daughters Betty Mrs Leonard Manson of Simcoe and Clementa at home two grandchildren Colleen Todd and Joan Mason. One brother Rev J E Todd of Toronto and a sister Mrs Guggisburg of Regina. Interment was at Mount Osbourne Cemetery Beamsville.

Former Public School Principal Dies at Beeton
Albert George Green former Georgetown Public School principal died suddenly in Beeton on Wednesday October 18 in his 70th year. He came to Georgetown from Pickering about 1912 and served as town treasurer and in church work. Survived by wife Alma Ida Ferguson, a son George of Hamilton, and daughter Margaret Rhamey of Trenton. His eldest son Ivan died in England with the Canadian Army in World War I. Funeral services were held from his late residence on Saturday October 1 at Beeton United Cemetery.

Hornby mourns as Frank Weller, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Weller, died in action in Belgium last October after serving with the Royal Canadian Artillery and Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. Born in Toronto, he lived in Hornby eight years and was president of the AYPA at enlistment. Sincere sympathy goes to his parents and brother Richard.
