B Alderson and the late ME Alder witnessed a wedding reception in Esquesing Community Hall Stewarttown with Rev Fred officiating. The bride wore a pure white nylon gown with embroidered medallions and a feathered veil. she carried a white Bible and orchid. Bridesmaids and ushers included Joan Chaplin, Karen Brigden, Keith Merry, Floyd Brigden, and James Skene. Eighty three guests attended the first Stewarttown reception. the couple will reside on the groom's Hornby farm after a eastward wedding trip.

Stroke Fatal to Mrs. W. W. Fisher
Mrs. William W. Fisher died at Peel Memorial Hospital Brampton after a two week illness from a stroke. Born Margaret Jane Forbes Leslie on March 17 in Chinguacousy Township, she married William W. Fisher on February 16 1948 and celebrated their golden anniversary at their Sun Line Esquesing farm. She leaves her husband two sons Leslie and John and daughter Isabel plus six grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral at McClure Funeral Home with interment Greenwood Georgetown conducted by Rev McFail. Pallbearers were nephews and cousins.

Visitation Week Planned by St George’s Men

Coal Gas Fatal Find Sisters Dead in Stewart Town
Two sisters, Mrs Applebe and Miss Eva Thompson, were found dead from coal gas poisoning in their Stewart town home beside Harris Grocery. The bodies were discovered after Elizabeth Appleive reported no answer at the door, prompting police to force entry. Funeral arrangements were not yet set.

The Strathmore Chapter of the IODA heard Mrs. Evans recount her year and a half in the Bahamas during wartime. Mrs. Ann Hickay, Regent, presided as two new members Mrs. McGowan and Mrs. Leslie Clark joined. A Poppy Fund donation of ten dollars was set, and plans for a April cooking school were made. The chapter will pack its annual Christmas box for Haliburton’s adopted school and buy two Cednorvale School books. The meeting closed with thanks and refreshments.
