Two Georgetown Soldiers Return Worldwide From Korea
Two Georgetown soldiers arrive home after a year with United Nations forces in Korea. Pte. Mike Lorusso returned Monday and Pte. Lou Brandford came home today. Both joined Canada’s special service force in 1950 after training at Petawawa. They are World War II veterans. Lorusso previously served in Japan. Brandford is married to Millie Lorriman. En route home Brandford spent a week in Vancouver hospital for malaria treatment.

Don Barrager outlined the Stay-at-Home Camp at a Lions Club dinner at the McGibbon House. Rev. John M. Smith will direct the two week camp starting July 21, with church and park facilities used again. The club budgeted 3000 dollars and will appoint associate directors, with officer elections in June.

Bill Leslie named manager of the Roxy replacing Bill Boal who moves to Dundas to run the Majestic Theatre. Scottish native. he spent a decade in Trinidad as a theatre manager and worked for 20th Century Fox Warner Brothers in Georgetown British Guiana. He later ran a hotel there and since moving to Canada operated a mobile cinema in Teeswater area. His wife and seven children will join when housing is found. two daughters remain in Scotland.
