Council approves water line extension for Normandy subdivision
On Monday June 2 the town council debated extending water service to new homes behind Normandy Boulevard. Dr McGilvray and Reeve Marshal supported immediate work, but caution was urged to avoid private property conflicts. Costs, including a Tyers subdivision estimate of $60 000, were deemed potentially heavy and not yet approved.

Fred J. Erwin longtime Georgetown resident died at his Main Street North home on May 27. Son of Robert Erwin and Susan Sparling he helped operate the family farm with brother Ted. Funeral by Rev John M. Smith was held at his home with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers included Harold, Pete, George Cleave, Harold Campbell, Walter Hyde, and James Erwin.

Glen Williams native Harry Margreaves dies in Long Branch
Fifty years ago the Glen Williams resident Harry Margreaves died of a heart attack at his Long Branch home. Born in England in the early 1800s, he worked at Glen Woollen Mills later moved to Toronto then Vancouver before returning to Ontario. Survived by two sons Arthur and Jack, he left fourteen siblings and was interred at Park Lawn Cemetery after a Toronto funeral.
