Fireworks Display Injures Local Boy In Georgetown Park
Bruce Murray suffered severe burns when a two inch firecracker exploded in his pocket during a Georgetown park display attended by a record crowd. The boy was treated at a hospital where officials said his condition was improving. Ambulance volunteers stood by as about six hundred dollars worth of fireworks lit the sky for the one hour event co sponsored by Branch 120 of the Royal Canadian Legion and Georgetown. Witnesses cited danger from crackers tossed into the crowd by youths.

Tragic Bicycle Accident Takes Norval Boy
An 11 year old Norval resident Jackie Wayne Hamilton died after a panel truck struck him while riding a borrowed bicycle on No 7 Highway near Norval hill. He had borrowed the bike from Dave Thurtock for an errand to Delrex Shopping Plaza. The accident occurred around noon Saturday. OPP identified the bicycle later at Thurlbeck Services Station. Jackie was a Brampton Times and Conservator delivery boy, Norval Public School student and active Cub. Funeral services were held Monday with Scouts and Cubs as pallbearers. interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. He leaves four brothers and a sister.

The Georgetown-Volunteer Ambulance Services handled only two calls in the week of May 16 to May 24. On May 17 at 7:22 p.m. an emergency run occurred from Yalderoad between 5th and 6th Lines of Exquesing to Georgetown with Logan MacDonald and Roy Wanson as attendants. On May 22 at 1:46 p.m. another emergency run went from Norval to Georgetown Hospital with Robert Bradley and J. Gennett.
