Tory Gregg spoke at the Lions Hockey Night urging weekly family time and education before sports. He praised local champions from Norval area and thanked organizers, with speeches by coaches and officials and a souvenir photo session.
Mr L Greenwood has returned home from Christie Street Hospital after a stay since last November and is improving. Congratulations to Mrs and Mrs William Henderson who were married at St Johns Church last week. Mr P R Baily of Hamilton visited here recently. Miss Davies and the schoolchildren enjoyed an outdoor marshmallow roast. Misses Joan and Barbara Lunty of Georgetown spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Hodge.
Mr and Mrs William L Milliere announce the engagement of their daughter Eleanor Mao to Hugh Spence McKinnon son of Mr and Mrs Robert H McKinnon of Trovile Ontario The wedding will be on Saturday June 1 1948 at 3 o clock in Georgetown United Church.

The St Georges Tennis Club held its social opening Friday with President George Walker greeting members and noting progress on court surfacing and grounds work. A four member work group led by Doug Sargant includes ax Bradbury and Max Hilghson clearing woods and prepping lower courts for surfacing, upper court to follow. Membership fees are 5.00 seniors and 2.00 juniors.
A group of interested parents met in the Old Town Hall last Wednesday to discuss forming a parent education group under Recreational Director Hal Newman. Mrs. Harry Lewis was elected secretary as the group plans a second meeting and a fall course of ten lectures conducted by professors from the University of Toronto.
William B. Featherstone of Milton dies at Guelph General Hospital on Thursday April 15 in his 83rd year. He was husband of the late Jennié Scott of Georgetown and father of Mrs. P. E. Ault of Weston and Lauranette R N of Guelph.

International Salvation Army leader General Albert Orsborn arrived in Canada this month for meetings at several centres. He was in Toronto last Tuesday and Wednesday.
Harold A. Speers a native of Caledon East has been engaged by Georgetown Public School to teach Grade seven and manual training replacing Samuel Stevenutt who is moving to the Niagara peninsula. Speers previously taught in W illiam s and served three years in the RCAF. He is married to a Toronto native and was active in Peel Presbytery Y P A. The hire followed a board meeting selecting Speers from several applicants after persona l interviews with Walter Haggs of Toronto also considered.

Bruno Selisizzi, Milton Intermediates player for Georgetown, purchases Lillie Beauty Salon from Donna Ryan. The salon, renamed Lillico's Beauty Salon, has operated 23 years. Donna Ryan leaves but stays on staff with Selisizzi and existing personnel.
Ballinafad church held a morning service for Mother's Day plus a baptismal ceremony for three infants Norman Arlan son of Mr and Mrs Sinclair Allan Neil son of Mr and Mrs Yve Jamieson and Gary Donald son of Mr and Mrs Brown. Visitors Mr and Mrs Ross Huxley of Wimburgh dropped by with Mr and Mrs Ray McEnery. Sam Snow departed Monday for Yolixle Saskatchewan to spend summer with his uncle Nat Givens on his farm. Mrs F J Shortill and Ross are recovering from a severe flu episode and hope to resume outings soon.
