Norval Progressive Hluwire Party Held at Mrs Green’s Home

Mrs Green hosted a wartime social last Wednesday April 24 at her home with games and prizes donated by her. Mrs Black and Dr B Gdllop won the prizes while a war time lunch was served. Proceeds totaled 0 and were donated for soldiers.

Herald Angling for a Brighter New Plant

The Herald reports a replacement plant ordered after last week’s devastating fire at the old facility. A temporary setup is in place, with printing shifted to the Bowling Alley while the new plant arrives daily and expected to begin full production next week. The Dominion Salvage & Baking Company Limited announces the dismantling of the famous Gooderham byres. Thousands of feet of lumber will be sold on the spot, allowing farmers to buy building material cheaply though no longer in original state.

Georgetown By law for ten thousand dollar debenture loan

A by law authorizes Georgetown to loan Henry Corke ten thousand dollars to rebuild a Woollen factory after a fire. The deal includes debentures repayable over twelve years at six percent interest, secured by mortgage on factory lands and equipment, with conditions on wages, employment of locals, and annual audit. Canada Food Board Tightens Sugar Hoarding Rules

The Canada Food Board issues an order limiting sugar holdings by individuals other than cane sugar manufacturers. No person may possess more than a stated amount for fifteen days, with penalties from 100 to 1000 dollars or imprisonment. The note also mentions flour hoarding.
