At a council session, Reeves urged authorizing a three ton Fargo truck from Maven Motors, but the motion failed as final figures for school boards and other departments remained uncertain. Mayor and several councilors advocated awaiting clearer budgets before spending.
Georgetown Rotary Club members elect Burman president for the coming year at the Monday dinner meeting with McMillan as vice president Burns treasurer Ralph secretary and Turnbull directors. Joe McMillan announced a May 14 party at the Riviera with plans for a tenth anniversary event to honor past Rotarians and raise funds for the Glen Williams Nellie Fund. Delegates upcoming Rotary District Conference at Royal York March 26 and 27 will include four couples from Georgetown.
Lane and Bill Richmond of Georgetown attended the Ontario Baseball Association Convention in London. Wilfred Johnston of West Lorne succeeded Jim Waldie Millon as president.
High school dropout issue noted as Twenty Course Night School marks end of 106465 attendees with 170 arts enrolled. October totals show six short courses dropped for low enrolment while twelve week classes focus on sewing, typing, and personal grooming among others.
The Georgetown Auxiliary for Retarded Children netted about $300 from the Ides of March dance at the Legion hall, with a second dance planned in late April to support a proposed adult workshop for mentally retarded adults 18 and older. Funds will aid the campaign set for May to secure a suitable facility after Sunshine School.
Georgetown man Lloyd Raymer 9 Weber Dr. was killed Friday in a two truck collision at the Highway 401 intersection. He leaves his wife Eleanor a son Kenneth and two daughters, with funeral held Monday in Toronto at St Clair Chapel.
Twenty month old Lawrence Euteneler of 43 Water St was examined at Georgetown District Memorial Hospital and discharged after being struck by a dairy truck driven by Roger Geguras of Esquesing Steen's Dairy. The child sat on the road when the truck backed into him near Park Avenue Water corner. Doctors C A Thompson and J H Chamberlain treated him.
The Catholic Women's League of Holy Cross Church invites the public to an open house on Sunday March 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. guided tours at 2 and 3. The event follows church blessing services and features explanatory booklets. Members urged to invite friends and relatives.

Georgetown Police Department will join Phase 2 of a new police telex communications network. The system, launched March 10 in Toronto, links 17 OPP districts and WW detachment HQs via CNCP Telex. Phase 1 covers Ontario cities over 40 000 population with about 141 telex printers. The network allows master display monitoring, preemption for broadcast to all stations, and a private police network. Phase 2 will be added soon.

The incident marked a second sawdust ignition in the past year. authorities debated a fire hydrant on the property.
