City Librarian Gibbard resigns after 27 years in Moose Jaw
Alexander H. Gibbard, longtime Moose Jaw public library head since 1913, retires at 77 after a 27 year tenure and 3,398,464 books borrowed. The Library Board accepted his resignation March 5 with July 31 as the retirement date. A successor plan will be discussed at a forthcoming special meeting.

The 1940 Halton Seed Fair at Georgetown drew the largest exhibit yet with 33 cereal grain entries and strong alfalfa shows. Nobarb barley by Reid Bros. won the cereal grains championship, while Craig Reid and T. J. Mother of Mrs William Reeve Dies at Brampton
Mrs Carter of Brampton died in Peel Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was in her 66th year, born at Mayfield to the late William Large and a longtime Salvation Army member. She leaves her husband and four children. Funeral was held Monday afternoon with burial at Brampton Cemetery.
