A 11 ton paper truck skidded and jackknifed blocking No 7 highway on the Norval hill last Thursday delaying about 500 vehicles. The truck remained stuck until nine p.m. a toppled tree and downed hydro lines left Norval without power until late afternoon.

Victor King Succumbs After Prolonged Illness in Georgetown
Victor King longtime Georgetown resident of 26 years died at his home on Guelph Street after a lengthy illness. Born in Hornby 63 years ago, he was a former GM dealer and owned a large salvage operation. He served as president of the Georgetown Progressive Conservative association and held county and arena roles. Survived by wife Viola Chisholm and two brothers Archie and Ernest. Funeral conducted by Rev Alex J Calder with pallbearers named. burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

A newly built red brick residence on Ostrander Boulevard owned by Dr. W. C. Stiles was gutted by fire. Neighbors spotted the blaze Friday morning. fire crews arrived quickly and controlled the fire within 30 minutes. The structure, unfinished and set for a veterinary hospital, contained medicine and veterinary materials. Cause undetermined with two stoves and electrical work not finished.

Volunteers organized and distributed questionnaires for the George Town GRC survey. Harry Lewis chaired the committee with Jim Martin designing the form.
