Homecoming of Flying Officer Omar Diggins After Overseas Service
Flying Officer Omar Diggins returns from nearly three years overseas after completing seventy operational flights over enemy territory in a typhoon bomber. He arrived by boat and reached Georgetown by the 7:00 p.m. train Saturday, taking a thirty day home leave. Diggins, who earlier worked for Smith & Stone Ltd, is in good health and recalls active wartime service with restraint.

Charles Burnside Dies Suddenly in Georgetown
Charles Burnside a longtime Georgetown resident died suddenly at his home on Friday February 25 in his 71st year. He came to Georgetown in 1887 and worked nearly fifty two years for Provincial Paper Ltd. He helped found the Lions Club and Curling Club and was active in welfare work and Church of England affairs. Funeral held February 28, interment Greenwood Cemetery. Survived by wife Georgina Burnside son Claude Bowmanville and two grandchildren Johnny and Sally.

Robert Lovell aged 79 of Georgetown died February 24 at Lord Dufferin Hospital Orangeville after a stroke. He learned blacksmithing, moved to Erin nearly 50 years ago, and worked for Neal Stone Quarries supplying stone for Ontario Parliament Buildings and Toronto City Hall. Survived by widow three sons John Acton Fred Toronto James Swansea police and three daughters Mrs William Perrol Mrs Arthur Hartington Mrs E Maynard Georgetown.

Fire kills Mills family at Acton home
Mr and Mrs George Mills and their two children Garry four and Patay two died in a Hillcrest Avenue Acton five room bungalow fire early Friday morning. Only boarder Robert McLeod survived leaping from a window and was treated at Guelph General Hospital. An inquest will follow when he recovers.
