Government run Polymer Corporation near Sarnia produces 34000 tons of Buna S and 4000 tons of butyl synthetic rubber yearly. The facility uses Horton spheres holding 12000 barrels of hydrocarbons under 50 pound pressure as part of the production process.
The Canadian Red Cross seeks funds in Canada for prisoners of war parcels blood donor service hospitals and veterans care. Georgetown district aims to raise $4600 up $100 from last year with a canvass committee led by LeRoy Dale and captains for each ward.

A Russian Relief quilt donated by Mrs Stan Lyon was won by Master Gordon Spence, number 256, raising $62.50.
Georgetown Lions Club met at the McGibbon House Monday and heard a talk on The Life of the Bee by a Francis Pollock. The speaker covered bee roles from queen to worker, honey value, and pollination, with questions afterward.
The Rev. George Aitken died at his residence in Guelph on Wednesday February 16 after a heart attack. Born in Scotland, he came to Canada to staff Presbyterian churches in the West, studied in Manitoba, and was ordained in 1904. He served across Ontario and the Niagara Falls region before retiring five years ago and living in Guelph. He leaves a widow, two brothers, and two sisters in Scotland.
February meeting of the Local Council of Women was held in the Municipal Building Council Chambers. Mrs Ralph Ross chaired. reports were given and a $10 donation to the Red Cross drive approved. Members presented talks on postwar town readiness, cinema entertainment, and education as printed in the Year Book.
The jp.D. H. Regt brass band presented a Sunday evening concert in Gregory Theatre on February 20. Sgt. A. Dobney led the programme with informative introductions as Bandmaster. Harold Peake and Alva Cripps impressed with euphonium solos and piano accompaniments. Joe Wilcox from the R.C.N. V.R. band earned applause for a cornet solo Perfect Day. A silver collection pleased the band amid light disturbances, and a manager will oversee future Sunday concerts.
Hockey Minded Georgetown Now reports two teams advancing to the C H A playoffs this week. Rev and Mrs James Moore of Shakespeare celebrate their silver wedding on Friday February 18 at home with friends. They recall Rev Moore's Georgetown Baptist Church pastorate and note five sons serving in the armed forces and overseas.
The Sunroom at Guelph General Hospital was decorated for Mr and Mrs Geo Ismond of Norval as they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends present. Mrs Ismond, a longtime church member, helped host guests while nurses assisted. A three story wedding cake and yellow roses adorned the table as Rev Self led prayers and toasts.
Norval community gathers at United Church Friday February 25 at 3 p.m. for a urgent prayer event. The note quotes a scripture line and invites participation. Thelma Hunter passed her Grade II piano exam at the Toronto Conservatory of Music, pupil of Thelma Cams ATCM LRSM of Brampton.
Mr and Mrs Lorne Cleave of Norval mark their silver anniversary on a February 2013 gathering for 200 guests. The event included a baptism for son Hugh Barry performed by Rev F J Dunlop using an heirloom pitcher as the bowl. Relatives and friends came from Toronto Brampton Guelph Acton Milton Hormby Union and Georgetown.
