Funeral services were held in Alton for Hiram McClelland 76 son of pioneer residents of the village. Rev P Davidge conducted the ceremony with pallbearers Joseph Dodds Thomas Meek Lloyd Limebeer George Mc Clelland Joyce McConnell and W G Coulter. Interment followed in Alton cemetery. He spent boyhood in Alton and died in Toronto on Thursday.

Hon. Dr. R. J. Manion national Conservative leader signals his bid to contest Fort William in the next general election. In a broadcast address he said his name would go before the party convention in Fort William and he would run in his home constituency if honored.
