L Skuce of Sudbury is appointed Halton county public school inspector to succeed retiring J M Denyes. Skuce has eight years as Sudbury District Division Six inspector and earlier taught at North Bay high school and was principal at a North Bay public school. He is an arts graduate of Queens and earned a pedagogy degree at the University of Toronto. His wife, also a Bachelor of Pedagogy, taught at North Bay normal school. Skuce will assume duties after September 1 and will reside in Milton.

Young people joined Bethel for a fire side meeting at the church and later enjoyed a watermelon social at Miss Isabel Wrigglesworths home on June 17. Acton Tax Rate Drops Amid New Expenses
Acton maintains a lower tax rate this year despite added costs as St. Joseph’s church exterior work continues and the town observes the eightieth anniversary of the Dublin church founding. Seventeen Acton Fair Board members attended the Brampton district meeting, the largest group from Sendon for a trial in a case charging unlawful killing. Peter Opicaney was committed for trial in Acton Police Court after posting 5,000 bail relating to a March motor fatality near Galt that killed George Frederick and Herbert Lamminan of Oshawa. The Acton School special meeting addressed principal D A Setle Renched Schieanee’s high school transfer to Uxbridge.
