On Mondax June 13 the council discussed enforcing the dog by law after a dog was destroyed by police with no tag. They debated appointing a dog catcher, advertising posts, and the duties involved while considering tenders for town debentures and a water pump station project.
A correction notes last week's council report misstated votes. Dr McNally opposed making the private railway crossing public. the motion passed unanimously. He then voted against advertising for a dog catcher.
The district mourns Mrs. Robert Hill formerly Elizabeth Dutt who died Sunday June 5 at age 87. Survived by four sons James Bert Glen Williams William and Edward and four daughters Isabel Emma Catherine Nancy, funeral Tuesday June 7 from her Glen Williams home to Glen Williams Cemetery with pallbearers her four sons and two grandsons.
Rev. O R Flindall has accepted the Allenford charge in Bruce County serving Parkhead and Allenford churches. A Trenton native and Toronto Victoria College graduate, he previously led Ballinafad and earlier Alma Goldstone Bethel Goshen. He and his wife have contributed to community work and a summer Bible school for youths.
Mrs William Chaplin marked her 30th wedding anniversary with a transatlantic call to her parents Mr and Mrs V J Wardigan in Norwich England She said the line was clear and her mother noted good reception in England The call was placed last Thursday Chaplin married while her husband served with the Canadian Army Overseas
The second meeting of the new Retail Merchants Association was a dinner at the McGibbon House with James Goodlet as chairman. A temporary advisory committee was named, and officers include Richard Licata as vice chairman and bank managers Frank Benner and Fred Chapman as secretary and treasurer.
A former Geoteetown girl Mina Saxe daughter of Mr Morris Saxe and the late Mrs Saxe married in New York City on June 8 to Mr Max Fichman. The couple are on a honeymoon trip to California and will visit the town later this month.
The Georgetown Liberal Association held a well attended social at the Legion Hall last Thursday. Hughes Cleaver MP seeking reelection was introduced by Willard G. Marshall, with Euchre and cribbage winners named. Prizes awarded for oldest attendee and for a wedding anniversary near the party date. Dancing followed with Modern Aires providing music.

No. 16, wedding attendance in Orillia, Master David Roughley fifth birthday party guests, local visits to Georgetown Wasaga Beach Hamilton Acton, Limehouse W I district meeting in Palermo, and various social visits and church activities including WMS at Duke Mulder’s home.
The Countess of Strathmore Chapter 1.C.C.E. held a picnic supper at Mrs. Ern Batkin's Wildwood home. A brief business session elected the new regent Mrs. Walter Biehn and planned a garden tea. The chapter's tag day for the blind raised 205 dollars.
Ottawa resident Calvin Marshall joins Brill's department as a staff member. Brill officials announce Marshall's entry to the engineering group, noting his background and role within the company.
The Lions Club sponsored an evening booster party in the park to fund travel for the Girls Pipe Band to the Lions Convention in New York City. Local bands performed, prizes were awarded, and a new bandstand was officially opened by Mayor Joseph Gibbons. The event raised funds for Lions activities and featured a $50 diamond ring postcard draw won by Miss Joan Lavole.
William Cummins, employed with an oil firm in Bahrain on the Persian Gulf, was badly burned in another explosion. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Cummins, await more word as friends hope the injuries are not serious. He had spent last summer in town and was later married to a French girl in France.
Mrs Jessie Adams of St Thomas spent a few days in town last week. OS Ralph Peck is home on leave from Esquimault British Columbia where he has been stationed with the Royal Canadian Navy.
