Early Morning Fire Threatens Clarke's Chopping Mill
About 12 30 this morning an alarm sounded when fire broke out in J C Clarke's chopping and feed mill on Guelph Street. Origin unknown the flames made rapid headway in the lower part of the two storey frame building. Local brigade acted quickly and controlled the blaze though thick smoke hampered operations. Clarke's loss will be considerable from smoke and water damage.

Mrs. W. C. Kennedy Obituary from Georgetown 1940
Mrs. W. C. Kennedy a Georgetown resident died after a long illness on December 1940 at her daughter’s home on Maple Avenue. Born Frances Rutledge in Chinguacousy Township she was the second youngest child of Henry and Frances Rutledge. Survived by two daughters Barbara and Frances and a sister Margaret, she left twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held January 2 at Maple Avenue home with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. floral tributes came from family friends including the Tost and Grimsby families and others in Georgetown and Windsor.
