Halton County Council unanimously asked the Minister of Municipal Affairs to have the Ontario Municipal Board finish Milton’s annexation application promptly. Reeve A Ledwith stressed Milton’s growth is hindered until annexation proceeds, while other officials noted the Plunkett Report would not affect the plan. The group approved the motion to push for completion without County favoritism.

Smoke Only Damage In Ferro Steel Fire

A small fire at Ferro Structural Steel on Armstrong Ave caused heavy smoke but little damage. A night watchman reset a temporary blast furnace while on rounds, triggering the alarm around 1 a.m. Fire Chief Erwin Lewis arrived and used a dry chemical extinguisher to douse the flames in a new factory addition where portable heaters were used until the furnace is installed.

Warden Critical Of Town Motion On Nurses

Kevin Andrew Hunter, the only baby born on Christmas Day at Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital, arrived at 9 am weighing seven pounds four ounces. He is the son of Mr and Mrs William Hunter of Delrex Blvd. His grandmother shares a birthday with Christmas, and he has a sister Camilla and a brother Scott aged four and two.

Merchant Will Be 92: On New Years Eve

A familiar Main Street figure, Jim Richardson of Richardson's Crest Hardware, will celebrate his 92nd birthday on New Year's Eve. He and his wife have four children Walter Kenneth and Mrs Fred Maveai of town, and Harold of Pickering, plus 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
