Junior Institute Makes Toys for Needy Children

The Norval Juniors held their December meeting at Barbara and Ralph Cunningham’s home. Jack Fraser of Streetsville spoke on feeding, herd improvement, and cropping. The Junior Institute girls rapidly progressed on toy making for needy children to be sent to a Children's Aid fund for Christmas. Slides from a western trip were shown by three boys.

Christmas party gifts for children and mothers at firemen’s hall

Santa Claus visited the fire hall for the firemen’s annual Christmas party for children and wives. He distributed a gift to each of the forty four children and to every mother as games preceded his arrival.

Christmas Broadcast from Local Church Service Aids Community

Miss Lydia Snow and friends traveled to Florida for the holidays while families and visitors gathered at homes in Collingwood Meadowvale and Fergus for Christmas. The village shared carols, a candle light vesper, and readings with Mrs. Neelon, Mrs. Black, and the CGIT group.

Hornby Dancing Euchre At Orange Lodge Supper

The Hornby COL 165 held its annual Orangeman's Supper at the Orange Hall on Friday evening December 20. Euchre opened the event with prizes awarded by Gordon Brigden and Doug Leslie. Music by Mr. and Mrs. Gear Sinclair and Mr. Tom Howden accompanied dancing. Children received candy nuts and an orange. anniversary and birthday greetings were also noted.

Profusion of Penalties Marks Junior Opener at Whitby

Whitby won 6 to 3 as 64 minutes of penalties, 41 by Georgetown, marred the Junior C opener. Whitby led 3–0 after two periods. Georgetown mounted late pressure but could not overcome the early penalties and poor finishing. Teammates Brown, Rousseau, Tran scored for Whitby. Richardson starred for Georgetown despite the rough game.

Santa crowds Lions Club children at Christmas party

Santa visited over one hundred Lions Club children at the arena Rose Room on Sunday afternoon as the club presented its second annual Christmas party. The event featured music led by Bob Bardsley and Bob Hamil ton, a Bozo the clown appearance, short films, a buffet, and gifts for all children 14 years and under.

Urquharts Spend Christmas in Ottawa with Scott Family

Social notes report Mr. and Mrs. G. K. Urquhart of Albert Street visiting in Ottawa for Christmas with Mrs. Urquhart’s sister and husband Dr. and Mrs. S. Scott. Richard Sienko, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sienko of George Street, returns from Saskatoon where he is promotion manager for CFQC radio. he will fly back next Sunday. Mrs. Mary McKinney hosted relatives Ross, William and Jane from Brampton at her parents’ home on Edith Street. Lynn Emmerson of Victoria Crescent visits with her parents and grandmother on Main Street. Lynn attends the Ontario School for the Deaf in Belleville.

Christmas Party At North Halton Club Hosted By Pennocks

Mr and Mrs Jack Pennock hosted a Sykes Tool Corp staff and friends Christmas party Friday at North Halton Golf and Country Club. An eight o'clock turkey buffet preceded dancing to Reg Ryall orchestra and a midnight snack. Jack Ferguson played piano during intermissions as Mario Stratta oversaw the door prize drawing won by Sid Park.
