David Niven son of Mr and Mrs Tom Niven will attend the Ontario Older Boys Parliament at Waterloo Lutheran University December 27 to December 31. The five day event sponsored by St John United Church ACTS Men's Club aims to foster Christian leadership and understanding among boys aged 16 to 20 from Halton and surrounding areas.

Widow of Baptist minister dies in Welland
Mrs. Lillian Whan aged about 76, widow of a Baptist minister, died December 16 in Welland General Hospital. She lived in multiple Ontario towns during her husband’s pastorates and after his death resided in Fonthill. Survived by five children, ten grandchildren, a brother and several sisters. Funeral conducted by Rev Douglas Coombs at Dixon Funeral Home Fonthill, with burial at Wicasant View Memorial Gardens.

Married Couple Killed in Highway Collision Near Cranton
A couple married three days died Monday night when Weir car rear ended a stationary truck on No 7 Highway near Cranton. Weir car driver Weir Pasten, 40, of Hartley Bell Parkway Cranton, and Alice G Rordell, 35, of Toronto, were killed. Pasten left behind a 13 year old daughter. The couple were returning from a shopping trip when the tragedy occurred. Police cited an obscured view due to a road rise as the cause. The incident happened in front of Magistrate Langdon's office area.
