Local dignitaries and the Lorne Scots Band attended as Mayor Jack Armstrong and other officials spoke. The building hosts public offices, board rooms, a meter room, and an elevator for equipment.

Santa Sunday Visits Mill Children in Georgetown
Santa brought joy to about 345 children at the Alliance and Provincial mills in Georgetown on Sunday. The Alliance party at the Roxy featured movies and candy while the Provincial employees’ children filled the Legion Hall for films, gifts, and a red suit sighting. Adults competed in a chicken prizes draw supported by the Provincial Canteen Committee.

Mrs Robert Starret Dies in Highway Accident Near Cooksville
Mrs. Robert Starret 71 of Dixie was killed November 29 after being struck crossing No 5 Highway in front of her home one mile east of Cooksville. Her son Russell found her, and driver Blanche Hague of Cooksville aided at the scene. Surviving husband five children and 17 grandchildren.

Mrs. Irene Davison Former Glen Williams Resident Dies
Irene Davison, 68, long-time Glen Williams resident, died December 13 at Guelph General Hospital. She grew up in Arthur, worked at Sykes Woollen Mills, and later lived in Guelph. Widow of Robert Davison, she leaves sons Alvin and Gordon, siblings in Georgetown Brampton and Toronto, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral was at Towell Funeral Home Guelph with burial in Greenfield Cemetery Arthur. Pallbearers were her nephews Harold Bennett George Sharer Elmer Costigan Jimmy Douglas Lorne Davison Lloyd Davison.
