Lions Toast King at Georgetown Lions Club Ladies Night
Georgetown Lions Club held its Annual Ladies Night at the McGibbon House on Monday. About forty members and guests enjoyed a chicken dinner with music by an Acton quartet and heard tributes to King George VI. Lion Ballantine introduced children in Canada while Lion Bill Long led the program with a prayer, a biographical sketch, and Major Caste travel talk through an illustrated easel.

At the United Church Sabbath School White Gifts service Norman Burns hosted the presentation beneath lit trees with girls and boys placing gifts. The program featured scripture readings, solos, duets, and carols, ending with a donation of 36 dollars to the British War Victims' Fund by the Bible Classes and the OGLT, plus Trail Rangers.

The Ashgrove Women's Institute held its annual meeting at Myra O B Dick home with devotions led by Mrs George Nurse. Officers for 1941 were re elected. Mrs M Bird presented Holiday Customs in Different Countries. Members arranged quilt blocks for a January quilting and enjoyed a social lunch. Evening crokinole results noted high counters E Shore and W Brownridge. A fiftieth wedding anniversary for Mr and Mrs H Wilson drew a large gathering with White gifts presented.

Ashgrove Couple Celebrates Golden Anniversary
Mrs. Henry Wilson and husband marked fifty years since their Carlisle Methodist Church wedding. Relatives from Galt Toronto Hamilton Norwood and nearby towns attended at their Ashgrove home. A large cake, tea tables and musical numbers by Gwen Varcoe highlighted the celebration with best wishes for a 60th anniversary.

Georgetown business man A B Willson died last Sunday at his daughter's Red Deer Alberta home. He co founded Willson Brothers jewelry with his brother W H Willson, worked in the business for many years, and died following his wife's death.
