A train collided with a car at night, throwing the auto 40 feet and causing the vehicle to strike a telegraph pole. The driver, Bender, escaped death but suffered severe cuts and lacerations to the face and head.
The Women’s Institute will be present to assist with packing Christmas items. Donations of money are being requested, with Mrs J B Mackenzie coordinating the effort.
Canada introduces a clover leaf lighting concept near Port Credit to illuminate the network and improve safety in fog dust or snow. A relay system will activate lights during poor visibility and along the new middle road, with a similar setup at Burlington’s semi clover leaf.
The December meeting of the W C T U was presided over by Mrs AR Vennat in Georgetown with Mrs L Marchment of Glen Williams performing the solo. Dr Hate man and Mrs Marchment contributed to the program while the audience heard a talk on women’s health and community safety. Periodical health examinations were urged as a safety measure.
Peel Plowmen's association, after its annual meeting at Brampton, will hold its annual match on the first Friday after the provincial meet. Officers elected include President M. W. Carter of Brampton, vice-presidents H. Ruston and W. Hostrawer, E. Parkinson, secretary C. D. Graham, and treasurer James Laidlaw, all of Brampton or Malton. They aim to improve junior efficiency.
Next Saturday will be a big day for boys and girls and families in Georgetown. Santa will attend and distribute candies and oranges to children and attendees.
December meeting of the United Church Woman's Missionary Society elected 1938 officers led by East President Mrs Hutt and President Mrs Overend. Other posts named include secretaries, treasurer Mrs Deans, and various program and supply roles with multiple members listed. Cross and Crown Lodge also reports 1938 officer elections for roles such as W P Sir W Pearson. G Blick. John Lindsay. R J Graham. J Brown and V Pureuvtant.
The Herald toured the Dominion Seed House, Canada’s major mail order seed firm, noting its vast stock, thousands of seed items, and huge catalogue operations. The new Georgetown complex features a grand showroom, lighting, and a strong staff base, with heavy seasonal work from March to May.
Wallace Gallagher of Laurel was elected president of the Dufferin County Plowmen’s Association at the annual meeting. Other officers named include W. A. Donaldson of Orangeville, Clifford Shields of Snelburne as vice presidents, P. B. K. Stewart of Orangeville as secretary, and Ralph Hamilton of Shelburne as treasurer. Township directors listed include Mono Thomas Little and John Ledlow, East Garafraxa Frank Nelson and Nelson Black, East Luther Willis Rounding and W. E. Tovell, Melancthon Albert Rutledge and Leonard Madill, and Amaranth H. Horance Banks, W. Gray, Oliver Durkin, William Cooney and John Theaker.

Mr Ralph Ross, late high school principal, presents Miss Mary Peller with a proficiency in elocution book. Nine maidens perform a pirate dance under Miss G Patt with Miss Helen Blackburn at the piano. Tilly of was produced by special arrangement with Samuel Prench of New York under Miss Penson. The evening includes three acts with a strong cast led by Harry Williams and Marion Overend. the performance is praised for its polish and entertainment.
Owing to an error in the List of officers published in last week's issue the following corrected. Grocer What was that woman never pleased. She was complaining about the short weight yesterday. Horse sense behind the steering wheel is better and more important than horsepower under the hood.
Hockey this winter now certain for Georgetown as a club forms amid uncertain details. Harold Cleave, president last year, outlines the situation and says he should not be asked to carry the team. Mr. David Save selected as unanimous chair of the Walker fan group.
A brief note extends gratitude in a formal card of thanks signed by Clarence Armstrong expressing appreciation to those who offered kindness and support.
