A quarry foreman, Robert Cain, died after a derrick boom fell when two cables snapped at Sykes Quarries near Glen Williams. The 9:15 a.m. accident left Cain with fatal injuries. he leaves a wife Mabel McNally and six children, with funeral plans not yet set.

Mrs. Frederick Burtenshaw died suddenly on King Street on a Wednesday after a life spanning England, Canada, Regina, Winnipeg, Hamilton and Georgetown.
