Large turnout at Georgetown nomination meeting hints at major council shake up. Candidates for mayor and eight councillor seats were proposed amid debate on wartime duties, town debt, and future finances as nominations closed.
The Local Council of Women met at the home of Mrs Nalph Ross with President Mira C Hasen presiding. Minutes and financial statements were read and approved, nominations for the Public School Board were suggested, and a Navy Leaguer group formation was noted. The next meeting is planned for January with the annual gathering anticipated.
Community appeal asks residents to donate warm clothing and blankets for Russia during wartime hardship. Mrs Loud and family organize a box drive at Preton's Empire Lunch, urging good garments only and noting the need for help despite limited monies.
Cash on hand acknowledged 65.00 and a donation from Junior Red Cross at Public School 10.00. Total on December 2 amounts to 639.03 dollars.
The Georgetown Herald notes the fund was sent to Toronto’s Evening Telegram with $2850.01 on hand and total acknowledgments recorded as of March 1970. The December 2 balance stood at $2052.71.

Total War Savings stamps reached 326 this fall and 3630 since January 1943.
