Georgetown notes mark the ninth annual commencement at Georgetown High School with remarks by Palmer of the Ontario Department of Education. Scholarships honored Douglas Latimer and others. many students received diplomas and certificates while athletic awards and crests were handed out. A social hour followed with a village birthday tribute to Mrs Samuel Webster amid generous guest attendance from surrounding towns.

Schenk-Wood Wedding at St George's Church
Ethel Charlene Wood and Harold Leonard Schenk united in marriage at St George's Church of England on Friday November 26. Archdeacon W G O Thompson officiated as James Wood and Mrs James Wood stood with the couple. The bride wore a white satin gown with train and veil, carried white chrysanthemums and an orchid, with three sisters as attendants. Best man was William Schenk Jr. Ushers were Murray Robertson and Robert Hepburn. A reception followed at the couple's home. The newlyweds will reside on Queen Street in the Grandview Apartments.

George A Wilson died at 73 after a stroke with a Masonic funeral in Georgetown. He was a former farmer merchant and church worker.

District prizewinners at the Royal Winter Fair include Stan Price of Hornby who earned two fourths and a fifth in four exhibits. High prizes were awarded for wheat, wheat sheaf, and citrons.

November election shapes Georgetown council line up
The November nomination meeting in Georgetown produced acclamations and several contested races. Jack Armstrong will be reeve in 1949, with James Goodlet named deputy reeve. Mayor Joseph Gibbons begins his thirteenth term. Ward races include incumbents Herbet, McCumber, David, Hill, and a tight Ward 3 contest among Whitmee Lyons and McNally, with Farnell opposing Whitmee on hydro and school board candidates expanding ballots. The Board of Education election and hydro commissioner vote proceed December 13, with seven of eight education names and one hydro seat chosen.

Frank Elsom Dies in Woodstock Motorcycle Crash
A Woodstock accident last Thursday claimed the life of Frank Elsom a 1 hydro employee. He was returning to work after dimmer when his motorcycle struck a gravel truck and he died instantly. He is survived by his wife Doris Gregory a granddaughter of Mrs J B Ritchie and by daughter Sandra and his parents Mr and Mrs Charles Elsom. Funeral services were held on Monday.
