Georgetown resident Mrs. J. J. Gibbons marks ninety years with family congratulations. Born Bertha Scott on River Drive when Papermill Road, she married Mr. Gibbens in 1902 and ran or owned multiple Georgetown businesses including a bake shop and later a grocery near the Main Wesleyan corner. The couple has a son in Calander and two grandsons Peter and John. she did housework and garden work until a hip fracture five years ago.
A local woman Mrs. John Harris of River Drive reports her brother Donald Yaworski was among two men killed in a Kirkland Lake mine cave in. Sixty five miners were trapped at Wright-Hargroves on August 14, with bodies recovered August 24.
Thirty Lions Club members and wives hosted a going away party for Von John Matthies and his wife Shirley at Von Luke Robichsud home. Matthies leaves to teach high school in Picton after eight years with Varian Associate. he plans to return for Lions Club Chuckwagon races in the park on September 12.

Events include a routine transfer to St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto, an emergency run after a highway crash to Georgetown Hospital, an industrial accident transfer to Georgetown Hospital, and multiple normal transports to Hampton Hospital and back to Georgetown Hospital.
