Georgetown High announces strong results for eighth form exams
Georgetown High School reports an overall pass rate of 88.2 percent from 68 papers with no failures in literature history algebra geometry or trigonometry. Nearly 68 percent achieved honours. Dr. William Mitchell of Oakville leads a new provincial funded food control program for Halton Health Unit. He starts with mastitis control in dairy herds while expanding work on Bangs Disease in cattle and meat supplies. The Ontario Veterinary College assists with lab work. Mitchell, a WWII bomber pilot and DFC recipient, is a graduate of Guelph and Toronto public health program. The project is provincially funded with no federal grant. Halton is among provincial sites for this public health research.

Saskatchewan Conservative MPP Nathaniel Given Dies After Stroke
Nathaniel Given, longtime Conservative MPP for Rosetown in Saskatchewan during the 1930s, died last Tuesday in Guelph General Hospital after a stroke. Born near Ballinafad Ontario, he lived in Indian Head and Milestone Saskatchewan, later operated a grist mill in Creemore and a Toronto apartment residence with his wife. He served in Parliament for Rosetown, was active in Orange Lodge and Odd Fellows, and belonged to the United Church. Funeral services were held at McClure Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown. He is survived by his wife Christine, one sister and four brothers.

Guelph Contractor Wilfred J Binnie Dies At 42
Wilfred John Binnie a longtime Guelph contractor died Monday in Guelph General Hospital at age 42. His firm was hired to install a water main at the Cedarvale School property. He was a son of the late Alex and Mrs. Binnie and survived by sisters Mrs P Arnett of Guelph and Mrs Norman Adamson of Streetsville. Funeral service was held at McLanaghan and Ross with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Drowns At Huttonville After Fall From Dam
A one year old Norval district boy, Lorne Frederick Hall, drowned at Huttonville after falling 20 feet from a dam spillway into the Credit River. Johnny Noble raised alarms as Lionel Walwork swam to rescue him, but medical staff pronounced death. An inquest was ordered. He is survived by his parents and a sister Norma. Funeral held at Brampton Funeral Service with interment in Brampton Cemetery.

Limehouse Native Was Brandon Civic Worker
George H. Taylor a Limehouse native died in Brandon Manitoba last month. Born 61 years ago in Limehouse he studied at Acton School and worked at Beardmore Tran nery before marrying Hazel Gamble of Georgetown in 1908. They later moved west and farmed until 1929 then settled in Brandon as a civic employee. He is survived by his wife four sons twelve grandchildren five sisters and three brothers with many in Manitoba Alberta and British Columbia.
