Council called for paving tenders to finish the No. 7 Highway through town and widen sidewalks on both sides. Elm Street Chapel Street East and a sanitary sewer extension on Elm Street were also open for bids as part of an ongoing improvement program.
A Terra Cotta VI group and friends traveled to Stratford on July 25 from Union Presbyterian Church. They lunched near the main park venue, viewed The Merry Wives of Windsor at the theatre, and dined at Lester's before returning by bus.

One Grade 9 class will move to Acton to ease crowding. two new teachers were hired in Acton High School.
Stan Hall Haltons provincial government member has a new street in Delrex named Hall Road an extension of the 10th Line joining a list of streets named after former mayors reeves and 1955 council members in office when Delrex joined Georgetown.
Georgetown council upheld the planning board decision to bar a Rexway Drive corner service station, citing a 100 percent residential area. The McColl Frontenac Oil Co. may reapply after consultations, with planning board review suggested.
An accident on the Hungry Hollow incline on the ninth line last Monday at about 6 pm involved two cars and two pedestrians. Passenger Lillian Ross sustained injuries to her left shoulder as a car maneuvered to avoid pedestrians and slid into a ditch. Officers Nelson Trafford and Ted Scott investigated.
Sixty one children enrolled at the annual vacation table school held here last week. Leadership duties were assumed by Alan Neelon, Shirley Kirkwood, Beth McEnery, Bonnie Cotton, Marjorie Gibson of Ballinafad, Mrs. John Jackson of Melville, and Helen Allen.
Five new town employees had their positions confirmed by a council motion. A storm sewer project on Main St. N. was acknowledged by Brampton lawyers Prouse and Mackie, with potential suit halted upon sewer completion. The town will seek damages already incurred. Council accepted Sunbeam and Romania subdivisions as town roads and returned bonds. Dr. Walter Gray reports ongoing sidewalk surveys and fixes, plus consideration of surfacing Young and Charles Streets after a traffic change. An building bylaw infraction occurred on Norton Crescent due to surveying error.
Town officials report the fundraising campaign for the new Georgetown community swimming pool has raised over $38,000 in cash and pledges, leaving about $11,000 to reach the $50,000 target. The Lions Club led early support and donated land behind the arena, with life guard staffing and open house events noted as the drive continues. The pool will become public property under a future recreation committee.
Georgetown Hospital Association ends its Rex Heslop house raffle after postal suppression of mailing rights. Officials urge ticket buyers to return funds or donate, as the group plans tag days, a fashion show, and a house sale to fund a town hospital.
On Friday evening a fine program by the children featured chorus action songs recitations and a worship service led by Mervin White Jean Lawr and Jim Gilpin. Certificates for attendance were given to fifty five children.
Mr and Mrs Allan Clements of Bronte Street Milton announce the engagement of their daughter Vina Morea to William James Doherty son of Mr and Mrs James Doherty Hewson Crescent Georgetown. The marriage will take place on Saturday September 1 at 3 o'clock in St Johns United Church Milton.
Ken Gregory a town works staff member was injured while unloading pipe from a truck last week a heavy pipe shifted and broke his arm.
