The Western Washington Hospital for the Insane invites sealed duplicate proposals by January 3, 1892 at 9 a.m. for furnishing listed supplies delivered to Lake View station within 25 days of award. Bidders must include brand and quality and samples if designated, with bids to W. J. Fife, secretary, marking sealed proposals. The trustees reserve the right to reject any or all bids.
Notice lists outstanding warrants of the City of Olympia for general and street funds issued in 1890 and 1891 to be paid after this date with no interest. Also includes a Seattle-Tacoma Steamer Fly time card showing departures from Seattle and arrivals at Tacoma and back for November 19, 1881, with daily sailings.
Fifty to sixty young men attended Y M C A gospel services at Tacoma hall yesterday. Rev F E Drake spoke on No Compromise using Daniel. The meeting featured testimonies and strong interest. Saturday night gatherings are paused for mid week services at association headquarters. A Yokefellows band will organize for Christian work and Bible and theology classes will be formed after the new year. Next Sunday is Ladies Day with local singers helping. The Ladies Auxiliary adopted a revised constitution allowing any woman of good character to join.
The Olympia Theater features Mr Potter of Texas and a poor showing for The Play of 0 and 1 with only Aimee Angeles dancing and Daly’s concertina imitations earning any praise. Grocery ad notes Frank F Williamson offers a holiday stock at low prices while Presbyterians report strong church singing led by Mr D Lawrence and a brief sermon on music by Rev Lamont.
The Odd Fellows library at Main and Fifth will open daily from 1 to 6 pm for members after January 1, with a strong stock and added standard works. J T Brown left 1000 for library use. 500 will be spent immediately on new books. Olaf Frisch is librarian. Fred Raetz of Russellville Ky died from exposure. his daughter married recently, and he joined volunteer firemen the next day before dying from the cold air. Captain Doane, once Olympia night watchman, recalls lively old times with cannon pranks and a nimble guard of peace.
The incoming city council faces key hires including city marshal, night police captain, and city surveyor. Likely candidates include George Savidge, James Chambers, William Andrews, Shazer, Frank Snyder, Dwyer, Murphy, Talcott, Millard Lemon, A. J. A Washington dispatch reports senators Allen and Squire failing to win seats on the appropriations committee due to mutual candidacy. The two avoided choosing between themselves, selecting an outside man instead. Allen may chair the select committee on Indian depredations, though few duties exist this season.
Colonel T. W. Eddy of Olympia told a Seattle reporter that the supreme court’s burden is increasing rapidly as more new enterprises arise in the state. He notes the court has nearly given up on keeping pace but remains hopeful, with litigation rising to levels seen in older eastern states.
Preparations are under way for Christmas Sunday school festivals. No nights have yet been fixed upon, but efforts will be made to hold them at the various churches on the same night to keep children from going the rounds.

A wedding couple Dr A eight Oliver and his bride return from Tacoma to Woodland for a royal reception at the groom's parents home. A procession with flags greets them as guests enjoy a plentiful noon meal and jubilant cheers before reaching Olympia at 5 20 p m.
Olympia volunteers press for uniting three fire companies into an official Olympia fire department. They complain of aged equipment and neglected quarters, propose personal funding for improvements, and urge council action to back a paid department, with about 96 men currently on the rolls.
A Washington dispatch reports Chile tensions are mounting after Minister Montt’s assurances of peace, with Consul McCreery and Minister Ryan warning of possible trouble in Chile. Secretaries Blaine and Navy officials fear a strike on American interests and push urgent coastal defenses and Pacific fleet readiness.

Mrs Norcross said a letter found in her son Henry Norcross desk removed doubts that he threw the Russell Fage bomb. The letter began I go to New York to get 1,260,000 and threatened suicide if unsuccessful. She said he was insane and made a martyr in the interest of his inventions.
A Main Street grocer in Olympia attended a Saturday theater. A bank clerk, with a friend, hid an alarm clock in a wooden box and set it for 9 30. The bell rang for a minute and a half, causing the grocer to turn pale as the audience watched in confusion. The grocer finally discarded the box in relief after the alarm stopped.
Major Henry Oliver, longtime trainer of boys and youth, returns home after aiding the Chehalis state reform school project. He previously led reform schools in Philadelphia and Cincinnati for years and now serves as president of the Columbia National Bank of Tacoma, involved in local public affairs.
