Wedding of Lizzie Ferry and John Leary in Olympia

Miss Lizzie Ferry elder daughter of Governor Ferry married Hon John Leary in St John’s Episcopal church Olympia. Bishop Paddock led the ceremony assisted by Dean Watson and Rev Buck with music by Prof Roberts. A full reception followed at the governor’s mansion with lavish floral decorations and prominent Seattle guests onboard the Bailey Gatzert for return to Seattle.

Bank cashier Jaeger steals a million marks then dies

In Berwin on April 21 it is reported Jaeger, the Rothschild bank cashier in Frankfort, stole about 1.25 million marks. He reportedly lost most of it in fruit speculation in Berlin and Odessa and is believed to have died by his own hand.

Vineyards Destroyed by Cold Weather

Borpeaux reports April 21 that vineyards in Medoc Sauterne and Borsac regions are ruined by cold weather. In San Francesco wheat sells at $1 525, barley $1 005. Capital Mills at Tumwater operate and produce flour of good quality. Telephone No. 98.

Ruinous shocks shake towns across California and Oregon

A series of strong earthquakes hit San Francisco Sacramento Napa Woodland Winters Dixon Chico Vacaville and nearby areas causing collapsing walls cracked ceilings toppled chimneys and scattered debris. No major injuries reported though several buildings and a Masonic hall suffered extensive damage as panic spread and schools evacuated.

Four Texans were reported killed in the first clash with rustlers near Little Powder river. Govs Hagle and Hogg sought updates from Barber as a rescue party prepared to go to Wyoming. Cavalry troops moved from Omaha to Cheyenne while the storm abated and telegraph links were restored.

Decca Captivates Audiences With Premier Jenny Lind Style

Decca charmed a large audience with a pure flute like upper register. She sang La Musoli the Pearl of Brazil and Way down upon the Suwanee River to thunderous encore. She received flowers from Blanche Barton and kissed the child. Decca recently married Francis Leon Chrisman of the New York Press. She first toured with the Marine band and in 1891 sang before 10,000 at Chautauqua Assembly.
