Judicial ruling on Ohio and Mississippi Railroad case in Illinois

Judge O Melveny of the Second Circuit reviews the Marion county circuit decision against the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad. The trustees for bondholders seek to restrain sale of mortgaged property while asserting liens remain valid and that certain mortgage provisions are void. The court denies the injunction and dismisses the bill, with potential appeal to the Supreme Court.

In New York on July 2 the remains of President Monroe were exhumed before Governor Wise and Virginia officers. The coffin was well preserved and moved to the Church of the Ascension.
