Fox Hunt Delights Local Community Near Old Fort
A late night fox chase four miles east of Old Fort Saturday was led by Har die Eller and Louis Black with help from local fox hounds. Starting about John Mc Kay’s farm near 10 o’clock, the three hour hunt drew over 150 spectators along No. 10 highway as twenty five hounds bayed nonstop. Veteran hunters Albert Hicks and John Mackey called it the best fox hunt they had ever known.

Squirrel Hunters Take to the Hills
Old Fort and nearby residents rushed to the hills at opening of squirrel season led by veteran hunter J. A. Dalton. The 90 plus year old marksman showed vitality and claimed a rifle that fires only at dead center.

McIntosh Addresses Old Fort School on Constitution Week
Dr D M McIntosh spoke at the Old Fort school Monday morning on the Constitution of the United States. The address, requested by the county superintendent, drew interest from students and staff during Constitution Week. Nearby, relatives attended the funeral of Mr Robert Goodson of Morganton including Miss Susan Allison and several Allison family members. Rev J C Umberger reports a 20 member increase in Methodist revival attendance, led by Mrs Steidley with support from Rev Umberger and other pastors.

Fossil Bed Found Near Alpine Texas
A large fossil bed reveals shells 14 to 18 inches wide flat leaves over a foot wide and palm family tree trunks in a limestone stratum by the Rio Grande river. A nest of petrified worms or snakes was unearthed in the same site.

Growth of Banking Education at AIB Convention
Denver reports at the American Institute of Banking convention show rapid growth in banking education. Twelve years ago the institute had 80 study chapters, now 208, with course enrollments rising from 11,000 to 45,000. Nearly 14,000 have graduated.
