The funeral for Thomas Young Lytle was held Tuesday at 11 in the Presbyterian church. Rev. C Story of Marion and Rev. M Hansel of Old Fort were in charge with Rev. J L Rayle of Old Fort Methodist Church South assisting. Lytle, a McDowell County pioneer and Confederate War veteran, was laid to rest in Old Fort Cemetery with Masonic Lodge oversight and a Daughters of the Confederacy delegation in attendance.
Raleigh February 26 The North Carolina workmen's compensation act survived repeal efforts while many opponents of the Jones James bill favored changes. The measure from Representatives Jones and James reached the house on a minority report after two hours of debate. A motion to undefy postpone action failed 54 to 29, with critics praising the program’s core while urging improvements to certain provisions.
Raleigh February 25 The House pension committee ordered Auditor Baxter Durham to draft a bill to verify state pension rolls for deaths of veterans. The measure ties to the Gant case in Greensboro where a clerk of court was convicted of cashing checks for dead veterans.

Mr and Mrs Lester Woodford and two small children Akron Ohio arrived in Old Fort to spend months with Mrs Woodfords parents Mr and Mrs M L Grant.

The second Live at Home run at Old Fort High praised for expanding home garden interest and farm movement. A seventh grade miniature garden and stage play featured Revolutionary War costumes and dramatizations enhancing classroom work and community engagement.
