Mr and Mrs Ralph Gosorn of Akron Ohio were guests of the former's parents when a collision near Fort caused both to be hospitalized at five o'clock the same day. After five days in hospital they left to continue their trip arriving in Old Fort on Sunday with the couple's safety blankets and good spirits intact.

Relatives and friends gathered at Miss Mary Sue Nichols home Sunday to celebrate her birthday an niversary with a picnic dinner. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Kanine and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Kanine and family, Mrs. Anne Noblitt and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Carswell, Mrs. Lennie Kanipe and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Early.
Twenty eight members of the Senior Epworth League of the Methodist Church enjoyed a picnic supper Tuesday night at the Tourist Camp east of Old Fort. The evening included singing cooking and eating around a campfire. Chap erones for the group were Rev and Mrs J L Rayle.
Revival services led by Rev. J B Grice of Calvary Baptist Church West Asheville draw strong attendance. Pastor Rev E J Ingle invites all to attend these services. Junior League outing features wiener and marshmallow toast with 30-member split favoring boys 26 to 12 for girls.
Camp Elliott, Y M C A camp for boys, opened its fourth season on June 15. A large number of enthusiastic boys arrived on Monday and were met at Old Fort by camp directors. The camp will offer two weeks for girls from July 27 to August 10 with Mrs. John Henderson of Hickory directing.
The Music Club met at Mrs. J. L. Caplan’s home on Saturday evening with guests including Mrs. Clyde Miller Mrs. Nancy Kimball Mrs. C. W. Graybear Mrs. M. E. Hansel Mrs. Chas. Jenkins Miss Nancy Miller Elizabeth Hansel Jean Hansel Lenore Keatley and Millie Kanipe.
In Old Fort Western North Carolina P H Mashburn and Dr D M McIntosh have developed Lake Refuge a twelve acre recreational lake fed by Jarretts Creek within a 500 acre private area near Highway 10 The article praises the optimistic pair as civic leaders and describes the lake its dam bridge private grounds stocked trout and planned clubhouse all promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
Miss Annie Wall was in Asheville Friday. Mrs. D A Silver was in Asheville Saturday. Many locals visited Asheville and surrounding towns including Swannanoa Black Mountain and Hendersonville. Notables include Crawford Fortune from State College Raleigh visiting Old Fort and Rev I A Rhinehardt moving to Oak Grove Baptist near Canton with family. The Mile-Hi Special decorated touring car made its debut. Miss Eunice Wilkinson hosted a youthful gathering.
