Funeral Held for Mr. Sam Thomason in Old Fort

William Samuel Thomason of Old Fort died Sunday at 10 30 am aged his remains were removed to the Presbyterian church for a two o clock Monday service He moved from Oxford North Carolina about 26 years ago He is survived by daughter Mrs Mary Kluttz Salisbury a son George W Thomason Old Fort and nine grandchildren The funeral was conducted by Rev M E Hansel and burial followed in Old Fort cemetery

Revered F. W. Bradley Dies at Home in Gastonia

The death of retired Methodist minister Reverend F W Bradley is announced with services to be held after his illness. Family members from Old Fort and Gastonia mourn his loss, noting his long years of faith and community service. Strickland and Eady Wed in July Nuptials at Old Fort

Arrowhead Monument Unveiled At Old Fort Sunday

More than five thousand people attended the unveiling of the arrowhead monument in Old Fort's public square. Speeches honored pioneer settlers, with remarks by Dr. D M McIntosh J Hampton Rich Zebulon Weaver and others. The ceremony featured tribal leaders, a pipe of peace and a surprise message from R E Simpson. Little Miss Margaret Nesbitt unveiled the monument.

Revival Services Begin Next Sunday at Old Fort Methodist Church

Revival services start Sunday August 8 at the Old Fort Methodist Church for two weeks. Evangelist Reverend Harvey Stanbury from Asheville leads, with Mrs. C L Steidley directing music and women and children work. Pastor J C Umberger invites railroad men and all locals to attend and participate.

Two Pickpockets Sent to Marion Jail

Marion police arrested two suspects at Old Fort crowd action. R. E. Starnes and W. L. Modrell were found with stolen money. $21 was in Modrells shoe and the rest in a waistband pocket. They were tried in May Court and jailed.

Gaston Drum and Bugle Corps Parade Through Old Fort
