Carolyn infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Sawyer died Tuesday night in Black Mountain. Funeral services were conducted by Rev E J Ingle of the Old Fort Baptist Church. Interment took place in Old Fort cemetery Thursday afternoon.

A misprint in last week's Old Fort News announced Mrs. P H Mashburn as general chairman of arrangements for serving soup to schoolchildren. Mrs K G Rhinehardt was appointed chairman of this undertaking.
The young ladies of the Baptist Church gathered at Mrs. E. J. Ingle's home to organize a Y. W. A. Friday evening. An engaging program of games and contests was arranged by the hostess and enjoyed by all attendees.
Old Fort High School traveled to Black Mountain Friday night and defeated the home team 21 to 15 in a competitive basketball game.
Twenty five farmer mutual exchanges in the state reported a combined business of more than 1.5 million dollars for the year 1930. The figure underscores the scale of cooperative farming activities and local agricultural finance during the period.
The Senior and Junior Glee Clubs of Old Fort School performed Friday evening under Miss Kathryn McCall who directed and accompanied the group. The program included solos duets quartets and sextets with chorus numbers and a mix of patriotic religious and popular songs.
Alfred W. Padgett died at his home east of Old Fort on Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday by Rev. J. L. Rayle and burial was in Ebenezer cemetery. He is survived by his widow and six children including Etta Kelly J L Grant A A Padgett James Padgett L Reid Sally Hamby and R C Padgett.
A Florida will filed in Glades county may require cutting a Kentucky heirloom mirror in two. The will, by Mrs. Mary Shaw Yoe of Louisville, states the two daughters may each claim half the mirror. The notice accompanies a note on ice cream consumption and a maxim about a good conscience.
